Every year, teddy bear lovers from around the world gather to learn which bears will be recognized as the best of the best. On October 28th, Teddy Bear and Friends magazine will announce the winners of this yearÂ?s coveted Teddy Bear of the Year PublicÂ?s Choice Awards at the Octobear Faire Show and Sale held in Schaumburg, Illinois. The awards are recognized as the benchmark for quality design, workmanship, and competition in the teddy bear industry.
Winners of the award, affectionately known as the TOBYs, are picked by the readers of Teddy Bear and Friends. Last spring, a panel of industry experts at the American International Toy Fair in New York chose five bears in each of fifteen categories to receive an IndustryÂ?s Choice Award. From these, readers voted for their favorites to win a PublicÂ?s Choice Award. Past PublicÂ?s Choice Award winners include perennial favorites Boyds Collection, Steiff, and Bearington. For the first time, a Â?Best in ShowÂ? award will honor the bear that received the most votes overall.
The TOBYs are presented at an awards banquet during the weekend-long Octobear Fair Show and Sale held at the Schaumburg Marriott.
